Doug’s commitment is first and foremost to provide sound, informed financial advice as a trusted pillar in his clients’ lives. He covets his role and strives to remain abreast of cutting-edge strategies for the accumulation and preservation of wealth.

Doug launched his professional career in a wholesale business in 1979 in his family’s business in Roanoke – Chemical and Paper Service, Inc. He was involved in the marketing, selling, and operations of their janitorial supply, paper product and automotive chemical company. In 1995, he chose to transition into the financial services field. He began with John Hancock Financial Network focusing on long term care. In 1999, he chose to work through Metropolitan Life Insurance Company where he expanded his scope into a more comprehensive approach to full financial planning for individuals, families, and businesses. Joining Valley Financial Solutions in 2018 has allowed Doug to further practice in a comprehensive way as well as in an independent way due to Valley’s boutique firm independence.

Doug and his wife Amy are both native Roanokers and reside in south Roanoke. He attended Patrick Henry High School, Virginia Western Community College, and Virginia Tech. Doug and Amy have a son, Mitch, who is a graduate of Virginia Tech with a degree in Electrical Engineering. In his leisure time, Doug is extremely active in the community through sports and church activism.
